Laver Cultivation Nets
An operation to spread laver cultivation nets starts by building columns to suspend nets and stretching float and flow type ropes anchoring mooring grids on the seafloor in around September.
Cultivators attach spores to nets at sea and on land in early October.
At sea, they spread nets in layers on a surface and suspend oyster shells having spores below for attaching them to the nets.
On land, they suspend the oyster shell inside water tanks and rotate nets wound on a wheel for the attaching.
After laver buds grow, the nets are classified into nets which are frozen-preserved as autumn bud net and nets which goes on to be cultivated.
The laver buds are grown from late in October, and they are harvested by plucking boats.
Harvested lavers are commercialized as “Seaweed Paper” through various processes in a fully automatic dryer.

Rope in longitudinal direction of laver cultivation net is called an ear rope.
The ear rope is usually fixed nets using a sewing machine however some is knotted traditionally in very small areas.
We interweave nets in the rope automatically.
Our net is much flatter than the others.
It has a good reputation that the rope less dislocated and it is less damaged in a harvester.
